This year two students of our school – Joanna (7C) and Maja (7B) – took part in the English Language Competition 2018. Candidates from all over Vienna came together on February 26th and 27th for a written and an oral exam. The ten best candidates qualified for the finals on March 7th, in which candidates had to give a prepared speech and to demonstrate how well they speak English in a spontaneous conversation with two native speakers.
The competition was tough but our students did well. Maja even reached the 11th place, which meant that she was part of the jury (see picture) judging the ten finalists. Students of our school joined Maja and went to watch the finals.
“The most impressive part was witnessing how the students were able to adapt to the various challenging questions and present convincing speeches after only a few minutes of preparation.” (Joanna, 7C)
Auch eine “Italienerin” der Erlgasse nahm, begleitet von ihrer Italienischlehrerin Eva Kurz, am diesjährigen “Concorso regionale di lingua italiana”, dem wienweiten Landesredewettbewerb für Italienisch, der heuer im Grg 8 Albertgasse über die Bühne ging, teil. Magdalena aus der 7A schlug sich tapfer. Wie auch ihre 15 MitstreiterInnen sprach sie zunächst zu einem Bildimpuls und führte anschließend mit einer anderen Kandidatin ein Gespräch zu einem kurzen Video. Auch wenn es für die Finalrunde diesmal nicht ganz gereicht hat, traten wir nach einem spannenden Vormittag zufrieden und um eine Erfahrung reicher den Heimweg an. Wir freuen uns auf das nächste Jahr: Alla prossima!
“Nach anfänglicher Nervosität war der Italienischwettbewerb eine aufregende Erfahrung, bei der ich nicht nur meine Italienischkenntnisse unter Beweis stellen konnte, sondern sogar eine neue Freundin gefunden habe.” (Magdalena, 7A)
